Supervision Power (HDR Photography)
- Shooting with Supervision Goggles
HDR Photography: a whole new world - To me, discovering HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography was like enabling some sort of super-vision. Since I began to shoot, I was overwhelmed by the limited capabilities of photographic sensors --you can't have both the highlighted and dark parts of a scene in one shot, when there's a lot of contrast between them. You'd have to sacrifice either overburning the highlights, or forever cast the darks into oblivion. Well, not anymore --computer to the rescue.
Shooting in HDR is fun. Not only because you can by far surpass the capabilities of your equipment, but because you never know what you'll look at when you get back to the computer and merge the shot. Super-sight works in mysterious ways. It can transform your dullest shot into a masterpiece of color, vividness and joy.
Below, is a collection of HDR photographs I have taken. Every picture is the result of merging 3 shots. Tools used: Nikon D70, iMac and the Photomatix plugin.
